Red Magic 9 debuts with Snapdragon 8G3 on Geekbench
The upcoming Nubia Red Magic 9 has been added to the Geekbench server. Nubia started testing their next-generation flagship gaming phone early this time. The Red Magic 8/8S Pro was released in December 2022. So its successor, Red Magic 9 should be launched in the near date. The device already exists and ZTE started testing the device.
Recently a new device with the model number nubia NX769J was added to the Geekbench browser database. This alleged ZTE Nubia Red Magic 9/9 Pro features the regular version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The overclocked version could be adopted by Samsung in their Galaxy S24 Series.
According to the Geekbench listing of nubia NX769J, the CPU has an octa-core configuration. The large cluster has only 1 core with a 3.19GHz clock speed. The medium cluster has 5 cores having 2.96GHz frequency in each. The smallest dual-core cluster is clocked at 2.19GHz in each core. This CPU configuration is the same as the rumor we covered on February 7 this year.
So we also expect that other rumors that the tipster claimed can be real. This includes the 20% less power consumption than Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This report was rumored many months ago. So optimizing the chip for a long period should significantly improve its performance.
Another information we obtained about the Nubia Red Magic 9 is that the testing unit currently running on Android 14. The Geekbench version used to test the device is the older V5. So we got slightly lower score than than the score we would get with the Geekbench 6.
This appearance of the alleged Red Magic 9 indicates that the device could be released soon. We have already discovered some phone that will come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The list includes OnePlus 12 series, Galaxy S24 series, Xiaomi 14 series and most other upcoming flagship phones.
