Huawei Mate 60 launched featuring Variable aperture, satellite communication, and more

Huawei finally launched the standard edition of the Huawei Mate 60 Series. The device is listed on Huawei’s Vmall website with some key features. So let’s see the new exciting features that the Huawei Mate 60 comes with.

One of the most exciting features is the two-way satellite communication support in Mate 60 using the Beidou satellite system. Previously it was rumored that Huawei might offer a satellite calling feature in the Huawei Mate 60 and P60 series. Instead of offering this feature in all phones of the Mate 60 series, Huawei only used it in the Huawei Mate 60 Pro.

Huawei ended up using only the text messaging feature in the standard version. But the good part is you can also receive replies from your emergency service provider. The Mate 60 RS edition might also have this satellite calling feature.

The 50-megapixel main sensor continues the variable aperture identity of Huawei. The aperture can be set as wide as F1.4 to as close as F4.0 which is the same as last year’s Mate 50. The main sensor has OIS too for stable capture. The ultra-wide lens is a 12-megapixel sensor with F2.2 fixed aperture. The periscope telephoto is also the same 12-megapixel at fixed F3.4 aperture with OIS and AF. However we don’t know the sensor sizes of those cameras yet. But they should be out soon as the device is announced.

The front camera is now also a 13MP sensor with F2.4 aperture. The COC lense rumor in Huawei Mate 60 series is still unconfirmed.

The display of Huawei Mate 60 is also top notch this time. Huawei used a 6.69-inch LTPO Amoled display that can switch from 1Hz to 120Hz. There is also support of DCI-P3 color gamut with 10-bit depth in the display. The 300Hz touch Sampling rate paired with 1440 Hz PWM dimming makes the display smooth as well as comfortable for eyes.

The battery capacity has been increased significantly from 4460mAh to 4750mAh. The phone comes with a 66W charging brick in the box. The phone also supports 50W wireless charging.

Unfortunately there is no mention about the chipset of the phone on Vmall webpage. But as our expectation, Huawei Mate 60 should also come with the new Kirin 9000S chipset as the Mate 60 Pro. They only variant mentioned in that page is 12GB+512GB and the price of it is 5999 yuan.
