Huawei Mate X5 officially unveiled: here’s detailed specifications

Huawei has quietly launched their latest foldable phone, the Huawei Mate X5, along with the Mate 60 Pro+ following the surprise release of two Mate 60 series devices last month. The device is now up for pre-order in china. let’s delve into the detailed design and specifications of the Huawei Mate X5.

The Mate X5’s inner display boasts a 6.4-inch OLED screen with an impressive 2504 x 1080p resolution and a 20.9:9 aspect ratio. Notably, it supports a high-performing LTPO 120Hz refresh rate, a 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, and a responsive 300Hz touch sampling rate. On the outside, it features a 7.85-inch display with a resolution of 2496 x 2224p, complemented by a smooth 120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate. This outer display also benefits from a 1440Hz PWM dimming feature and is protected by Huawei’s 2nd gen Kunlun glass for added durability and protection.

The Mate X5 boasts a versatile camera setup, including a 50MP f/1.8 primary camera, a 13MP f/2.2 ultra-wide camera, and a 12MP f/3.5 periscope telephoto camera. Additionally, it features an 8MP selfie camera, which is available both internally and externally. This is one of the best camera setup when it comes to foldable smartphones. The Mate X5 also supports 2D face recognition, even when the user is wearing a mask.

While the exact processor used in the Huawei Mate X5 is currently undisclosed, there are strong expectations that it will be equipped with the Kirin 9000S chipset. The device will be offered in three distinct configurations: 12GB of RAM with 512GB of storage, 16GB of RAM with 512GB of storage, and a top-tier option with 16GB of RAM and a generous 1TB of storage. Notably, the Mate X5 will come pre-installed with HarmonyOS 4.0 right out of the box.

The phone boasts an impressive 5060mAh battery with support for 88W wired fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and 7.5W reverse wireless charging support. In terms of aesthetics, it’s available in four distinct glass back finishes: Feather Sand Black, Feather Sand White, Feather Sand Gold with Feather Sand Glass. Alternatively, you can opt for the Aoyama Di or the Phantom Purple, both of which come with a luxurious Vegan Leather finish.

When it comes to dimensions the Huawei Mate X5 measures 156.9mm in length, 72.4mm in width, and 11.08mm in thickness when folded. When unfolded, it measures 156.9mm in length, 141.5mm in width, and impressively slim at just 5.3mm in thickness. The weight of the device varies depending on the variant: the Vegan Leather variant weighs in at 243 grams and the glass variant weighs 245 grams. The phone also has IPX8 water resistant rating.
