Xiaomi’s Gallery App to Get AI Features, Rivaling Google Photos

In 2024, AI is all the rage, with companies integrating AI features into their apps to enhance functionality across platforms, including smartphones. Google leads the charge in powerful AI photo editing and other smart features with its Google Photos app on Pixel devices. Now, Xiaomi is gearing up to join the bandwagon as it recruits AI testers.

On February 25th, Xiaomi released a notice to the Xiaomi community detailing its plans and welcoming all Xiaomi fans and tech enthusiasts to experience it.

The message reads:

“Hello fellow Xiaomi Fans,

Welcome to learn and experience the Xiaomi HyperOS AI Tester Recruitment!

We have integrated popular AI large model technology into our system to unveil a range of brand-new AI features, including AI Portrait, AI Painting, AI Gallery Search, and more.

Xiaomi HyperMind serves as a cross-platform intelligent hub, utilizing AI to perceive the surrounding environment, enabling nearby devices to operate and collaborate based on your habits.”

Eligible devices:

The first batch of models available for testing will include the Xiaomi 14, Xiaomi 14 Ultra, Xiaomi Pad 6 and Pad 6S Pro 12.4. Updates will begin rolling out in Europe at the end of March, with testing gradually expanding to other regions. The tests includes-

AI Portraits:

This feature uses AI large model to create avatars from your gallery. Additionally it can make portraits with simple text descriptions to explore various versions of yourself

AI Gallery search:

This AI feature will enable you to easily find whatever you want in your gallery. You will be able to search for things like ‘baby,’ ‘cat,’ or ‘dog,’ and it will provide accurate results.

AI Gallery Editor:

With the AI Gallery Editor, you’ll be able to perform powerful editing tasks directly within your Xiaomi Gallery app. Features like AI Expansion and AI Erase Pro will enable you to expand your images and remove unwanted objects with ease.

The aforementioned features are specific to the gallery, but there are other AI features included in this beta testing, such as AI subtitles, Xiaomi HyperMind, AI Art, WPS AI, and AIGC.
