Xiaomi HyperOS is Xiaomi’s new software for the Xiaomi Ecosystem. In the Xiaomi Ecosystem, they offer almost every type of device such as smartphones, TVs, Cars, Tablets, Laptops, etc. To give users a seamless experience inside the Xiaomi Ecosystem, a unified OS is a must. That unified OS is Xiaomi HyperOS.

Xiaomi HyperOS comes with a lot of new features over MIUI 14. Though the look and feel are almost the same, the HyperOS feels smoother with a modern-looking UI. The icons got a slight redesign with a little change in colors.

One of the most hyped features of Xiaomi HyperOS is the Lock screen customization. It’s very similar to what Apple has done with their iOS but a lot better. We have a lot of areas to customize.

Xiaomi HyperOS for smartphones came as a successor of MIUI 14. Xiaomi 14 series was the first phone to come with HyperOS. But after that, many enthusiast developers ported HyperOS to many other unsupported Xiaomi smartphones. For example, we have HyperOS for Redmi Note 10 Pro/ Max. We also have HyperOS for Poco F3/ Redmi K40/ Mi 11X.

Requirements to install HyperOS on Redmi Note 12 Pro/ Pro+ 5G

To install unofficial HyperOS ports or any custom ROM on your Redmi Note 12 Pro/ Pro+ 5G your device needs to meet the below criteria:

  • Unlocked bootloader
  • A custom Recovery installed (for flashing recovery rom)

Guide to installing HyperOS on Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G

Step 1: Check if the ROM is made for flashing via fastboot or recovery

To check the ROM if it’s recovery or fastboot,

Step 1.1: Open the rom.zip file

Step 1.2: Look for a file with .bat extension in it.

installation.bat file

If you see a file with .bat extension in its name it means it’s a fastboot ROM. Otherwise, it’s a recovery rom.

Step 2: Flashing the ROM

Step 2.1: Flashing a fastboot ROM

To flash a fastboot ROM, follow the steps below:

Step 2.1.1: Boot your phone into fastboot mode
Step 2.1.2: Connect your phone to the PC using a USB cable.
Step 2.1.3: Installing required drivers

Make sure the ADB and fastboot drivers are properly installed for your PC.

Step 2.1.4: Make sure your phone is connected as a fastboot device

Use the below command in platform-tools/cmd fastboot devices

confirming the fastboot device using cmd

Or go to Windows Device Manager and you will see a new device named Android Device listed there.

Step 2.1.5: Installing the ROM file

Unzip the ROM and open the install.bat file. The name might be different. But there will be only one file inside the folder with the .bat extension in it. You have to double-click on it and it will open a command prompt window. If it asks for formatting data, allow that.

The ROM will be automatically installed and your phone will be rebooted into HyperOS.

Step 2.2: Flashing a recovery ROM

Step 2.2.1: Boot into Custom recovery

Boot into the recommended custom recovery by pressing and holding the Power and Volume Up buttons.

Step 2.2.2: Flash the ROM Zip file. You may face invalid argument errors, just ignore them.

In recovery, browse to the ROM file and select. Then use the slider to confirm to initialize the installation.

Step 2.2.3: Format Data

Go to wipe and select Format Data. Then type yes and press enter.

Step 2.2.4: Reboot into recovery

Go to the Reboot section of the custom recovery and click Recovery. Swipe again to confirm the action.
