Redmi Note 12 Turbo to be world’s first phone to offer Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chipset
Qualcomm recently announced their second Gen processor of the Snapdragon 7 series mobile platform. It’s an important announcement as the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 might change the game of the mid range smartphone market.
Yesterday Redmi officially announced some key features of their upcoming Redmi Note 12 Turbo in their Weibo account. One of them was featuring Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chipset.
In our previous post we shared some of the core information about the chip. The snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 is based on last year’s flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 architecture. This is the same TSMC 4nm architecture that is being used in mid-range Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is already a stable and powerful chip at the same time. The key differences between these chips are the underclocked Prime X2 core inside the CPU and the underclocked Adreno 730 GPU.
Though it’s an underclocked version, it’s still very powerful with 2.91GHz max clock speed and advanced 580MHz GPU. If we consider the price of Redmi Note series, its capped under € 400. So getting a phone with such a powerful and packed with flagship features in this price range can be a game changer in 2023.
As the chip is based on Snapdragon’s 8 series flagship architecture, Redmi Note 12 Turbo will also feature 4K 60FPS video capture. Other camera capabilities of the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 will also be similar to the SNapdragon 8 Gen 1 series.
