Apple is preparing to launch its latest iPhone 15 series in September. And Apple is set to bring 21 new changes to the iPhone 15 Pro models. This is very unlike Apple because they usually do incremental upgrades only changing a couple of things, mainly the chipset. However, the iPhone 15 Pro is expected to have huge changes and upgrades compared to the iPhone 14 Pro.
Starting from the material the iPhone 15 Pro will have a lightweight titanium alloy chassis with slightly curved corners whereas the 14 Pro has surgical-grade stainless steel with a 90-degree edge. The frame of the 15 Pro will be 1.55mm instead of 2.17mm on the 14 Pro. iPhone 15 Pro thickness will be 8.25mm which is thicker than the 7.85mm on the 14 Pro.
The physical Hardware has seen some adjustments and changes. They will introduce the action button on the 15 Pro instead of the usual mute paddle. Apple is finally upgrading the port on the iPhone 15 Pro series from a lightning port to a fast 20Gbps to 40Gbps USB-C port.
When it comes to the camera the main lens will have a larger aperture of f/1.7 up from f/1.79. iPhone 15 Pro will have up to 6x periscope telephoto camera (iPhone 15 Pro Max only) whereas the 14 Pro has only 3 times optical zoom. The 15 Pro will also have a more efficient LIDAR sensor.
The A17 Bionic chip on the iPhone 15 Pro will be based on TSMC 3nm process which is an improvement from the 4nm A16 Bionic. The display driver Chip is also more power efficient on the iPhone 15 Pro based on a 28nm process compared to 40nm on the 14 Pro. The ultra-wideband chip is now 7nm instead of the previous 90nm.
The base RAM is also increased from 6GB to 8GB on the iPhone 15 Pro. You will also get up to a 2TB storage option instead of the previous 1TB. The network Modem was also upgraded to Qualcomm X70. iPhone 15 Pro supports Wi-Fi 6E which is a solid upgrade over the Wi-Fi6 connection on 14 Pro.
The iPhone 14 had four color variants which were silver, gold, space black, and deep purple. But the iPhone 15 Pro series is excited to have two new colors, Dark blue and Dark red. The iPhone 15 series phones come with a color-matched 1.5m USB-C braided charging cable compared to the 1m Lightning charging cable on the 14 Pro series.
The iPhone 15 Pro series now can charge up to 35W wired charging compared to 27W on the 14 Pro. Also supports the new Qi2 wireless charging and the third-party wireless charging speed is now up to 15W which is up from 7.5W on the iPhone 14 pro.
The starting price for iPhone 14 Pro models is $999 for the Pro and $1099 for the Pro Max. iPhone 15 Pro series prices are expected to start at $1099 for the Pro and $1199 for the Pro Max.
